It is native to Africa, Asia and northern Australia. air potato
Air potato is a type of climbing vine native to Africa and Asia. Scientifically known as Dioscorea bulbifera, it is considered an invasive species in many parts of the world, including the United States. The plant earns its name from its aerial tubers, or "potatoes," that it produces from its stems which can be used for propagation. It is an extremely fast-growing plant, capable of reaching lengths of up to 70 feet. Although some cultures use it as a food source, certain varieties of air potatoes can be toxic if consumed raw.
