    'Adscititious' is so seldom used that agreement on what it means is soft. Sufficient usage would settle that just as using cowries in transactions makes them a money. If 'adscititious' had that edge it might develop several related definitions. But 'adscititious' does not even clump nicely into different but somewhat related definitions.

    Anything 'additional but not essential to the final result' sounds a lot like a catalyst. 'Addendum' is a noun, so 'addendumish' maybe? How about 'additive', or 'additory' or 'addled'?
