Film's lyricist, Shailendra won the Filmfare Awards award for best lyricist in 6th Filmfare Awards, for the song, "Yeh Mera Diwanapan Hai" sung by Mukesh. The plot bears similarities to Jacques Fromental Halévy's opera La Juive.
