phanerozoic aeon
The Phanerozoic Aeon is the current geological aeon in the geologic time scale, and the one during which abundant animal and plant life has existed. It covers roughly 541 million years and it's divided into three eras: the Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic. It began after the Proterozoic Eon, marked by a rapid proliferation of life forms in the Cambrian explosion. The name Phanerozoic came from the Greek words for "visible life."
