Mis
an inseparable particle used in composition to mark an ill sense, or depravation of the meaning: as, chance, luck; mischance, ill luck; computation, reckoning; miscomputation, false reckoning; to like, to be pleased; to mislike, to be offended; from mes in Teutonick and French, used in the same sense. Of this it is difficult to give all the examples; but those that follow will sufficiently explain it.
