hela
HeLa, also known as HeLa cells, refers to an immortal cell line used in scientific research. These cells are the oldest and most commonly used human cell line in biological and medical research. The cell line was derived from cervical cancer cells taken from Henrietta Lacks, a African-American woman, in 1951 without her consent. "HeLa" is named after the first two initials of Henrietta Lacks. Remarkably, the HeLa cells can survive, divide, and proliferate indefinitely under appropriate conditions.

The cell line was found to be remarkably durable and prolific as illustrated by its contamination of many other cell lines used in research.
