The Elgins were a singing group from Detroit city USA which sang for the record label: Motown during the 1960's .. They only obtained wide fame after changing their original group's name to the name they became famous for: The Temptations..Which change happened at the very beginning of signing on with Motown Records, as well as the commencement of their long singing careers...They pronounced the original name with a soft G though they spelled it the same as Elgin so that the name was sounded out as: El'jin.
