    An AR-15 is not a personal machine gun. It is a semi-automatic rifle that was originally made by Armalite. A semi-automatic or autoloading rifle fires one projectile with each pull of the trigger whereas a machine gun will continually fire until the trigger is released or the magazine is spent.
